Fiction books
In term 4, the library purchased the supernatural book 'Halo' by Alexandra Adornetto. Halo is about angels send by heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darknHalo.jpgess. These angels - Gabriel the Warrior, Ivy the Healer and Bethany the youngest and most human - must live within the human world, concealing their superhuman powers, their angelic luminous glow and wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments. Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods...
Bethany and Xavier can not resist each other and Gabriel and Ivy must do everything in their powers to intervene as the angels' mission is vital and the dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?
This book has had very mixed reviews with some readers giving it one star and denouncing it has been slow and boring while others have raved about it. Read it and decide which side you're on!
Two new novels that feature characters who find themselves in strange and disturbing environments are 'Zombie Blondes' by Brian James and 'Prism' by Faye and Aliza Kellerman.

Zombie Blondes
Zombie Blondes has a 'Stepford Wives' flavour about it...

From the moment Hannah Sanders arrived in town, she felt there was something wrong. A lot of houses were for sale, and the town seemed infected by an unearthly quiet. And Zombie_blondes.jpgthen, on Hannah’s first day of classes, she ran into a group of cheerleaders – the most popular girls in school.
The odd thing was that they were nearly identical in appearance – blond, beautiful and deathly pale. But Hannah wants desperately to fit in – regardless of what her friend Lukas is telling her…

Again another book with varied reviews, examples are Becky's comments
"I loved this book. I just LOVED this book. It was just so readable. Compelling I guess is the proper word for it. I was just hooked from the very beginning. "There aren't any rules to running away from your problems. No checklist of things to cross off. No instructions. Eeny, meeny, pick a path and go. That's how my dad does it anyway because apparently there's no age limit to running away, either."

While Angela's review contrasts with Becky's "
As another fan of zombies and YA lit, I've been looking forward to reading this book all summer, but I was terribly disappointed and frustrated by the wasted potential".

Prism

Kaida Hutchenson, Zeke Anderson and Joy Tallon, three teenagers with nothing in common, are thrown together by an explosive accident that turns their school excursion into a nightmare. The next morning they return to their ordinary lives with everything just as it was before. Or is it?

For those 'Hunger Games' fans, the library has the final book in the series ' Mockingjay'.
Mockingjay.jpg

Mockingjay - Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she's made it out of the bloody arena alive, she's still not safe. The Capitol is angry and wants revenge. Katniss takes on the mantle of the rebellion against the Capitol, becoming the titular Mockingjay.

The books in this series are very popular so it is a good idea to ask the library staff to reserve a copy for you.
